The central character is the Archiviste girl, the true identity and appearance of the infamous Marquis Machina . She sits in center-frame and faces directly forward, posture as prim and reticent as the near blank expression on her face. Her right leg is pulled up underneath her and her left hand loosely grasps at her right ankle to keep the limb in place. Clasped delicately in her right hand and held up to her chest is a feather pen; it is colored a gleaming gold, just as golden as the ink that spills from above and peppers her entire form with tiny gilded dots like stars. The same source of that spilling golden ink shines a light that bathes her in warmth. Fluttering all around her are little black bats. Behind her is a very large steel gear in the middle of spinning. In between the gaps of the gear's spokes, Noé is glancing backwards over his shoulder, expression one of pure disbelief. Outlines of golden gears can be seen in the background.

Inner Cover [ ]
Like the subject of a painting, Charles is bathed in an airy, translucent, ethereal light that turns his sharp features impossibly soft, almost angelic. The light is colored a delicate, subdued gold and little white dots like stars pepper his form. White feathers fall gently from above next to him. His expression is tired and half-lidded as he stares from the side.

The central character is Vanitas , standing in center-frame and facing forward with his head turned slightly to the right with an almost demure half-lidded expression. He is dressed in the outfit that he had put on in Entracte: Couche ; a neatly pressed three-piece suit, with the overtly and stylishly oversized blazer tied at the front with a rope. He still has bandages around his arms, neck, and face. A golden light shines down on him from above, bathing him in warmth and spotlighting the dish he presents in his right hand: tarte tatin. Golden sparkles emit from and frame around the pastry, as do blue sparkles for Vanitas himself. Behind him is a very large steel gear in the middle of spinning. In between the gaps of the gear's spokes, Noé is pressing his face against the barrier and drooling with starry eyes at Vanitas holding the tarte tatin. Murr sits next to him judgmentally.
