My Younger Brother
In the journey of life, many experiences can be proved as life-changing. At one time or another, we experience things for the first time and every experience is a new one. Be it a good experience or a bitter one, every instance changes life accordingly. However, out of all the experiences I had, the life-changing one was when my brother was born.
Joey is my younger brother and my parents don’t hesitate calling him a good accident. When my mother was pregnant with Joey, I was 14 years old and my second brother was 9 years old. We four were a good family.
We four were a happy and well-rounded family and fit into the perfection classification in every way. We had no idea that we were missing out on something until Joey was born with his hazel eyes.
Honestly speaking, I was not very happy about my mom being pregnant at the age of 40 due to life risks and health conditions. I was not happy with another sibling and was happy with four of us.
My mom’s pregnancy was not an easy one, it was very tough and complicated, and as a 14-year-old boy seeing all this every day was not ok at all. I had the toughest times dealing with all the situations of our family and my mother. However, I overcame this hard time and was back to my normal mind state.
The day Joey was about to come into this world, my mother held my hand and took me to the hospital with her. This happened because my dad and my brother were sick and my mom chose me to be with her that day.
Being present there with her in the labor room and seeing all the ups and downs of her emotions taught me something really important that day. I learned how powerful a woman can be even when she is in her weakest moments. Holding her hands being with her and feeling what she is going through taught me that I gained a special bond with her that day that I was missing or maybe lacking.
This is an example of a reflective essay for professionals. Also, there are many reflective essay examples where assignment helpers can help.
My Experience as a Writer
When I took this English course, I was extremely scared of getting failed. I never thought of myself as a good writer. It is because I was scared of the fact that I always had trouble putting my mind on paper. However, this English course was so enlightening and scary at the same time. This course made me confident about writing and taught me how to write and structure my thoughts.
The writing process taught me to not focus mainly on the writing part and also not on the structure or the organization. This helped me focus on putting out my thoughts in a relaxing way without worrying about the other factors. With this course, I found what I wanted to write and what I shouldn’t worry about.
I wrote about my experience as a writer in the form of an essay. However, I received my grades from the English course where my teacher commented that I did write my essay in several paragraphs but it’s not completely a reflective essay. An essay should include an introduction paragraph, a body, and a conclusion. This was the time when I realized I didn’t know how to write a proper essay or how to be a writer.
Earlier during my school days I used to call out for the spellings only which was fine but later on in life I understood I didn’t know the basics of writing. So, I write my essays and send them to a writing center. The center helped me step by step on how to write a proper essay. They taught me what I was doing or writing wrong and pointed out my mistakes to help me learn even better.
It is an example of reflective personal growth journey essay that teaches students how to write reflective essays. Also, essay writers can write my essay for me .
Personal Growth Journey
When we enter the world our life journey begins and it continues till the day we die. From being a baby to being an adult we grow up with a journey. Also, we enter into other’s journeys as well to play a small or a big part. Every journey gives us a new shape and a new meaning to life. Participation in different journeys lets us know that we are growing every day.
Certain things have an impact on our lives. Love, pain, sacrifice, and time are those things. Although we don’t see how these words impact our daily lives eventually they do. But have you ever wondered how we grow with them? When we dive into love and go through the unbearable pain, we learn and we grow. This is what makes us all different from each other. The way to take things from life and go with them. These journeys are what we need to go through how because we have one life and we need to stay and grow and prove ourselves.
There are many personal growth books that I have read so far and have gained immense knowledge about life and growth. One of the books that I have read taught me how to stand against injustice and fight against the odds to achieve justice. In the book, there is this person who talks and fights against injustice and racism. Reading this made me realize an important factor or a backdrop of our society that racism still exists.
There’s another book where a boy who is not tall enough when he ended up losing a basketball game. The boy’s mom asks him to put something in his shoes and he will become taller. He removed the thing from his shoes and realized he was the same height as before. The boy’s father told him that being tall might let you play better but with your determination, you can achieve whatever you wish to. In the next game, the boy scored a basket and realized his father was right.
I found the book relatable as I went through the same situation a few years ago and this book taught me that time that I can achieve things if I work for them and not just sitting praying and getting disappointed.
Self-growth is something we have in our hands only, we just need to learn what to do and when to do it for ourselves.

This is an academic learning example reflective essay for students to learn from. My essay writing can become easy with essay helpers.
My Academic Fieldwork Experience
Working in academic fields is daunting and challenging. I’m this because I have been through such an incident in my life. When I was doing my master’s degree, I had to conduct a hands-on fieldwork experience. Although I had a tough time doing everything in the end it was a fulfilling and enjoyable experience. I made mistakes and learned from them.
To conduct my research I realized certain things about incorporating primary data into my research. However, it was tough for me as the topic I chose had a very small amount of data to work on. So I began using sources of qualitative data so that I could validate my research.
I started researching by conducting interviews and surveys and targeting the government and the lower classes. I prepared my closed and open-ended questions to perform and begin the research work.
Both the groups answered differently, the government people answered sensitively and carefully as the political field is sensitive. However, the lower classes answered my questions in a very descriptive manner to show what they were going through and what they wished the government to do for them.
The lower class had my trust as they believed in me and they knew I would provide some solution to their problems. So, they started answering properly and provided me with some great insights that I needed for my academic research.
The fieldwork experience process was for me a roller coaster as whatever looks easy is not that easy. I learned many things but most importantly I learned that nothing goes as planned and you should know how to deal with such situations. I wasted some of the important days and time researching things that provided me with nothing in the end. However, some days went fully satisfying as I got what I was searching for.
It is all a matter of experience and what you get out of that learning.
This is a reflective example of career development for learners. Students can get the best essay writing service for writing better.
My Career Development Journey
One of the important aspects of my career is getting education and skill enhancement. I have participated in many academic workshops and training programs and gained academic degrees as well. What I did for my career development was that I sorted out my priorities to learn and expand my experience.
These workshops and training programs not only enhanced my theoretical knowledge but my skills as well. Also made me relevant to the job market. Learning and growing continuously made me more curious and adaptable and put professional success qualities.
The next thing I did for my career development was create networks in the professional fields. I started building connections with my mentors, and industry experts, and they all provided me with the best career opportunities and guided me throughout.
Networking and building connections let you learn from their experiences and one can gain useful insights into the industries as well. Being a part of a professional industry kept me updated and related to the trends and job opportunities for my career growth.
Career development journeys never come easy. My career development journey was also very easy and without any obstacles. Like everyone else, I also faced many challenges, uncertainties, and rejections. However, what I did to develop and grow my career was that I made these challenges my learning opportunities. Every rejection of an obstacle made me learn something different.
Lastly, I would say, my career development journey has been very fulfilling and rewarding. This journey made me realize the potential I have in myself to be a successful person after going through so many hindrances. My continuous priorities of education and networking with others made me a confident person who can face any career challenge.

What Is Reflective Writing?
Reflective writing is a form of creative writing where you examine an experience or situation through self-reflection. Through the course of creating the reflective paper, you describe insights that you gained or express your views on some experience. Reflective essays are typically personal writings about an experience, but they can be made up as well.
Tone and Structure
Self-reflection is a personal experience. Therefore, the tone and voice of the writing are personal as well. Written typically from a first-person point of view , these types of essays take the reader through a journey of growth and discovery.
The structure and format follow a typical essay writing outline . Begin with a great hook and a strong introduction . Pull the reader in without giving too much away, then provide a quick overview of the reflective topic. Next, in the body of the essay, move into the meat of the paper by describing your experiences and growth. Round out your writing with a solid conclusion that concisely restates what you learned.
Examples of Reflective Essays
Now that you have an understanding of what it takes to write a reflective essay, check out a few examples for inspiration.
My Little Brother
This essay example is written at a middle or high school level, reflecting on the arrival of a younger sibling.
In my short life, there are many experiences that could qualify as life-changing. Every new experience was, at one time or another, the first experience. For good or bad, each instance changed the course that my life has taken. But, the most transformative experience was the birth of my youngest brother. Joel is someone my parents often call a happy accident. At the time that my mother became pregnant, I was 13, and my other brother, Jake, was 10. We were what you would call a well-rounded, perfect family of four. We neatly fit into the perfect classification in nearly every way. We didn't realize what we were missing until the moment that my youngest brother first opened his striking blue eyes. In truth, I resented the fact that I would be having another sibling. Nothing needed to be added to our family, and my mother, already 38 at the time, was considered high risk because of her age. The pregnancy itself was full of complications that sent the straight course of my life into rollercoaster-like loops that my 13-year-old mind had a hard time comprehending. But now, I can see how forging through those loops helped me to roll with the punches that life inevitably brings The day Joel was born, my mother took me with her to the hospital rather than my father. It wasn't a planned move, but Jake and my father were both feverish; I was the next best alternative. Sitting with her through every contraction, I gained a new respect for just how powerful and strong a woman could be in what might be considered their weakest moment. Holding her hand and feeding her ice chips, I gained a connection with my mother that I didn't realize we were lacking. The moment my new baby brother came into this world, I realized two things nearly simultaneously. First, you don't realize how much you need something until it's sitting in your lap. Second, my life after this moment would never be the same. The moment he curled his chubby little finger around mine, I understood the words "happy accident" completely. There are many different experiences in life that have changed a part of me as a person. But, nothing so profoundly changed my views and outlook on life like the birth of my youngest brother. Joel's arrival was a life-altering event that caused me to see the world through new eyes.
Reading My Favorite Book
This reflective essay example about a favorite book is something you might find at the middle or high school level.
When it comes to books, I didn’t understand the appeal. I’d read one after another for each assignment not understanding what all the fuss was about. However, the moment I read Pride and Prejudice , it was like my literary eyes opened for the first time. It stirred love within me for classics I didn’t realize could exist. When I was first given the assignment of reading Pride and Prejudice , like many of my friends, I scoffed. With an eye roll, I internally calculated how much time I would have to read the book and write a report. I sighed at the loss of time with my friends for a stupid classic. Cracking open the cover, I was determined to hate it before even reading the first words. By the time I reached page 3, I nearly called it quits. But there was something about Elizabeth Bennet that quietly piqued my interest. I can’t say where, but somewhere along the way, my eyes devoured the pages instead of trudging along. The moment I reached the end, I was ecstatic and disappointed at the same time. Their ending had been perfect, but I realized I would miss them. Not only them, but I would also miss being part of their world. It was the first time characters of a story had affected me this way, so I tried to shake it off. However, after several days, that sadness carried me to the classics section of the school library. The moment I cracked open my next classic, my soul instantly felt more at ease, and I’ve never looked back. I never thought I’d say a book changed me, but in this case, it’s true. The love I found in Pride and Prejudice introduced me to a beautiful world of classic literature I can’t imagine living without. Despite not reading Pride and Prejudice for a while, it will always be my favorite book.
Reflective Essay Book
Creative communication.
This reflective essay example about the topic of creative writing is what you might expect to see at the college level.
I’ve always felt I excel in written communication. The skill of effectively communicating my thoughts and feelings through words and expressions seemed to come easily to me. However, I didn't realize how much my writing was lacking until my thoughts and feelings on writing were pushed nearly to their breaking point through my creative writing course. Learning the best way to manage time was a huge hurdle for me. I've always been a procrastinator. However, after the first day of class, I realized I would need to modify my thinking and approach to homework. I wasn't able to completely kill the procrastination habit I developed in high school, but I did learn some much-needed time management skills. I also learned how writing without the looming cloud of a deadline could open a creative door. A natural thinker and writer at heart, I thought I understood creative expression and wordplay... until my professor handed me my first grade. Upon looking at that striking "D" on the paper, I realized I would have to push myself harder and explore the depths my writing could reach. Not only did I learn to sharpen my technical writing chops, but I have found out how to dig into my creative soul to view my emotions and experiences in a whole new way. Going beyond the five-paragraph essay and fully exploring my feelings about a situation or action was challenging. This creative writing class pushed me to realize there isn't a limit on words when it comes to expressing something. I can convey a simple action a million different ways, and I mastered how to explore each one to find perfection in my written words. I also picked up new flexibility in my writing by opening my mind to different scopes of expression. Expressing all the changes that this class wrought in my writing is truly difficult. But, over the course of the eight weeks we spent together, I became a more competent writer. Not only do my words contain more depth and soul, but my writing itself has entered a whole new arena I didn't realize was possible. By studying new techniques and researching other approaches, I now have a sturdy foundation and a robust writing arsenal for future endeavors.

In writing your reflective essay, you must start with something that would captivate the readers right away. Since the purpose of the introduction is to grab some attention, you may include some unique and interesting facts or beliefs. In this part, showcase your creativity by adding an introduction that is written in a bizarre manner and not those that depict cliché experience. You may also utilize a highly moving quotation or a dialogue that would also be appropriate for your reader.
2. Write the thesis statement in one sentence.
A thesis statement refers to the sentence that carries the topic being discussed in the whole essay. Therefore, it bears the central idea in which your essay revolves around. In writing your own essay, construct this statement in a clear and concise sentence. In this way, the reader will have a better grasp of your topic and would be clearly oriented on what you want to convey. In most cases, thesis statements are written at the end of the introduction.
3. Stick to the first person POV.
Remembering that this essay is subjective and depends on the author’s interpretation, it is important to use the first person point of view. By using this POV, it would be easier for you to convey your thoughts and opinions, and it would engage you to the readers like you’re telling a story in person. The first person involves the pronouns I , me , my , and mine .
4. Keep it brief.
When it comes to writing your own essay, you must perceive what your readers feel or see in reading your composition. Always put into mind that readers also have their own time to spend, and without a mark in the writing industry, people won’t invest much time on reading your essay. Thus, it is important to keep your composition concise. You can utilize a paragraph of five to ten sentences in your introduction. Using this number of sentences, you must already express a complete and clear thought of an essay that is worth reading.

Examples of Reflective Writing
Types of reflective writing assignments.
A journal requires you to write weekly entries throughout a semester. May require you to base your reflection on course content.
A learning diary is similar to a journal, but may require group participation. The diary then becomes a place for you to communicate in writing with other group members.
A logbook is often used in disciplines based on experimental work, such as science. You note down or 'log' what you have done. A log gives you an accurate record of a process and helps you reflect on past actions and make better decisions for future actions.
A reflective note is often used in law. A reflective note encourages you to think about your personal reaction to a legal issue raised in a course.
An essay diary can take the form of an annotated bibliography (where you examine sources of evidence you might include in your essay) and a critique (where you reflect on your own writing and research processes).
a peer review usually involves students showing their work to their peers for feedback.
A self-assessment task requires you to comment on your own work.

Reflective Essays
What is a reflective essay? Typically, you write a reflective essay in response to a text you have read, an event you have attended, or another experience you have had. The essay focuses on describing the event, text, or other experience, discussing what you learned from it, and speculating on how you could apply what you learned.
Reflective essays are designed to stimulate your learning by asking you to think about (“reflect on”) what you learned from a particular text, event, or experience. The process of thinking consciously about your learning deepens and reinforces that learning.
Setting Yourself Up to Reflect
If you know in advance that you will be reflecting on a text or experience, take some time beforehand to set yourself up to reflect on it afterwards. Write down some notes about your expectations, as suggested by the questions below:
- What expectations do you have about the text, event, or experience? What do you expect it to be like? What do you expect to learn from it?
- Are there any questions you have at the outset?
- Is there any aspect of this text or experience that you expect to be challenging for you?
You can refer to these notes later, when you compose the reflection.
Engaging with the Text, Event, or Experience
As you are reading the text or participating in the experience, ask yourself these questions:
- Is it similar to or different from what you expected?
- How is it answering the questions you had at the outset?
- Is there anything you find to be challenging about this text, event, or experience?
- Are you engaged by the text, event, or experience? If so, what is engaging to you?
- What, if anything, do you think you are learning from this text, event, or experience?
In other words, think consciously about how the text, event, or experience meets your expectations, raises or answers questions, poses challenges, or provides an opportunity to learn.
Writing the Reflection
Now it’s time to write down your reflections. Remember that reflective essays are meant to deepen your thinking about a particular assignment or experience, so your own thoughts, feelings, and insights matter here.
A reflection can be divided into four phases, each of which can be a section of your essay:
- Describe: What was the text, event, or experience? If it was a text: who wrote it, and what was it about? If it was an event or experience: when did it occur; who was there; what went on?
- Interpret: How did the text, event, or experience meet your expectations (or not)? What questions did it raise for you? Was there anything you found to be particularly surprising, meaningful or challenging? If so, what was it?
- Evaluate: What did you learn from this text, event, or experience?
- Plan: How do you think you can use what you learned during this text, event, or experience in the future? In what situations could you use what you learned?
Style, Tone, Length
- A reflection is an essay, so provide full, thoughtful responses to the questions in your instructor’s prompt.
- The style and tone of your reflective essay should match the purpose of the overall assignment. This is a personal essay meant to showcase what you learned from the text, event, or experience that you are writing about. You can use the pronouns “I,” “me,” and “mine.”
- Describe the text, event, or experience fully, using plenty of descriptive words. Include enough detail for your audience to understand that you were engaged with the text, event, or experience that you are reflecting on; the reader should come away with the understanding that you learned something from the text, event, or experience you are writing about.
- Citations are only necessary if you are referring to a specific text, and even then, your citations are not the focus of the reflection. For a reflective essay, you are the main source of evidence. Always check with your instructor about what citation style to use, if relevant.
- The length of your reflection will depend on your instructor’s instructions for the assignment.
- The best source of information on length is your professor, so find out what the word or page-count is from them.

Student Learning Outcomes Course Reflection Essay Example
Course reflection: essay introduction.
The chosen course proved a positive experience for students due to the achievement of an appropriate study atmosphere and the establishment of beneficial student-teacher relationships. Attaining the study group’s confidence permitted instituting a functional feedback mechanism, which allowed those in attendance to demonstrate their grasp of the learned material and give recommendations on bettering the course based on personal experience. Consequently, Student Learning Outcomes were sufficiently achieved, leaving both learners and their lector satisfied with the pupils’ level of attained knowledge and competencies.
Despite the overall success of the course, there remain choice aspects of it that require additional work and improvement to receive even better results. Unpredictable external circumstances, such as weather conditions, resulted in the loss of class time and, therefore, leaving the last chapter uncovered. The acquirement procedure for the e-book access code was not perfected, with numerous pupils opting not to attain it, which made the use of the Marketing Lab troublesome. Additionally, revisiting the length of Exam 1 is necessary due to the difficulty that the majority of students experienced with its timely completion.
Resolving these issues, as well as other minor problems noted over the length of the course, requires addressing their origins. To make the Marketing Lab a more significant part of the learning process, more homework could be assigned from it, integrating questions from the textbook that were not covered in class. Additionally, this would effectively compel students to procure and use the e-book access code. The inclusion of more case studies in the course would also be a useful strategy, which may permit learners to achieve a more profound and hands-on understanding of course material.
Paying increased attention to the ongoing pupils’ assessment becomes crucial under these conditions, making journal entries a viable tactic when checking their comprehension of material after each chapter. Permitting students to include their possible questions in these entries would make working with learners easier through creating facilitated lines of communication. Therefore, considering all of these changes, revising the length of Exam 1 and re-assessing its weight in the overall course evaluation process becomes a necessary step. This change would contribute to the achievement of a balanced grading system that would adequately reflect the work done by students throughout their learning process.
The Effect of Professional Development on Education
The success of the course may be linked to the effort put into professional development, which permits perfecting the teaching process to achieve better learning outcomes. Attending Blackboard and Digital Measures training made gaining a mastery of teachers’ resources and integrating them to the best of their use possible within the classroom setting. Additionally, the ITCL Symposium helped achieve a better understanding of course material and how it could be taught, the presentation on product development having become part of the classroom lectures. The participation in coaching and symposiums, therefore, not only presented a chance for sufficient professional growth but also permitted apperceiving additional educational materials.
Implementing modern educational methods, which integrate the benefits of new technologies inside a traditional classroom setting, makes possible the attainment of previously unreachable goals through a combined teaching approach. In this aspect, Blackboard training may claim the most significant impact on the quality of provided schooling since it helped improve the continuity of the educational process through the demonstration of useful virtual teaching techniques.
The benefit of learning through Blackboard is evident due to the possibility of pacing the internet-based learning process, making the received training self-controlled, even if based around deadlines. During training, these aspects proved decisive as there was no need for extensive traveling, providing all the necessary information in one easily accessible place.
This advantage may be carried over successfully into the learning process, either providing the educator with an additional platform for student-teacher communication or presenting a chance for a changeover into entirely internet-based learning. For pupils, this transition could mean heightened educational autonomy when planning their time, which may be a crucial additional professional skill.
Evaluating Results and Setting Future Goals
Despite the positive impact of these provided chances for training, the brevity of the Faculty Annual Evaluation, which lasted one semester, poses significant issues to creating a continuous process of staff education. Additionally, the narrowness of the chosen courses’ topics, as well as their limitation to an in-house setting, poses a significant hindrance in achieving better professional results.
While a modernized approach to education, which focuses on the integration of technological advancements inside the classroom, may be beneficial to modern students’ understanding of the material, this attitude could be detrimental to traditional conceptions. However, as exercises and symposiums retain certain limitations, disputing the significant benefits that they provide to educators is not possible.
These current developments are a positive step towards achieving a better level of faculty performance, creating competent teachers that in turn can produce exceptional students. Advancing the already obtained results may be possible through continuing to provide employees with not only the possibility of professional growth but also presenting them with a broader variety of educational options and topics.
However, setting future goals for development based on the already achieved results becomes viable when considering the significant impact already imparted on the teaching staff. Therefore, setting goals for the coming year that pertain to expanding virtual education and developing online collaboration becomes appropriate and necessary for the continuation of staff growth. Taking additional steps to increase the provided variety of subjects, as well as the types of training offered, such as conferences and workshops, could present a chance to secure a steady reinforcement of teachers’ competencies. Since the already achieved results in educators’ training may be considered an accomplishment, this success should be supported and augmented.
Setting SMART Goals
It may be crucial to keep in mind that the process of education should equally benefit both students and teachers. To continue achieving excellent results and presenting pupils with the chance to learn from the best version of their educator it is necessary to keep giving adequate attention to self-improvement. Therefore, it becomes essential to outline specific SMART goals that are quantifiable and rely on accurate and measurable pre-determined goals that can be attained in a set time and may, therefore, be called realistic.
Predominantly, these SMART goals should be oriented towards developing professional competencies that may help teach management and marketing courses, as these subjects remain primarily taught courses. Attending two new specialized development courses, specifically tailored for those who teach marketing or management before the end of the next year could be a viable betterment option.
Another goal would be carrying out extra research on marketing tactics and management techniques before the start of the next semester and compiling the findings into ten cases for each course for students to solve. Personally forming these cases would permit creating not only a prerequisite for professional development through a study of modern practices but also provide learners with a unique and challenging educational experience.
Considering the assistance provided by technology, it may be necessary, as an educator, to continue integrating online resources into the education process. This aspiration makes mastering a new educational platform before the end of this semester essential objective, the success of which may be measured by the transfer of learning materials to the more modern program. Conducting at least two online examinations or assessments of pupils in the next semester is, therefore, an interdependent and reasonably achievable goal.
Additionally, it is necessary to integrate a virtual system of journal entries that would allow analyzing learners’ competencies as well as their acquired knowledge. Therefore, making journal entries a part of the next marketing and management courses could be an important SMART goal that may prove essential to stimulate students’ reflection regarding the courses’ goals. Incorporating modern technologies into the learning process should prove beneficial for learners who will seek employment in future job markets, which may have heightened expectations regarding the interdisciplinary skills of their staff.
These outlined short-term SMART goals are aimed at developing both professional and personal qualities in pupils and their educator alike. Consequently, the final goal should be related to receiving feedback from learners in both courses, which requires devising a communication from before the end of the current semester and making it accessible online. An omnipresent educational objective, therefore, is making sure that pupils feel confident and secure enough to communicate their possible grievances and suggestions.
